  1. About the Writer's Toolkit

  3.      The Writer's Toolkit is for writers and programmers who not only need a 
  4. scheduling program, but want to tap some of the power of the UNIX Operating
  5. System.  Not only is it a software package for the beginning users who want 
  6. to learn to use UNIX before acquiring a UNIX license or a multitasking 
  7. computer, it is a software package for advanced programmers who have
  8. recognized the convenience of UNIX and want to use its software facilities
  9. without spending the time and energy to code and test the software tools.

  11.      The philosophy of linking small modules together to do large tasks can 
  12. be attributed to Kernigham and Pike, whose Software Tools has inspired some 
  13. of the tools within this package.

  15.      The Writer's Toolkit goes beyond the useful programs discussed in Software
  16. tools in the frequency of words in sorted files and displaying duplicate lines 
  17. have been included.

  21.      The essential element that separates good programs from great programs
  22. is the quality of their documentation.  Like programming, documentation is an 
  23. artform.  Don't be impressed by voluminous documentation.  Read the 
  24. documentation provided on this disk (*.DOC) and see if it works for you. . . .
